Recipe: Kristyn's Powerballs

Unfortunately, I can't tell you the winning numbers for tonight's Powerball drawing, and if I did, I probably wouldn't tell you anyways, ha... I kid.

Seriously though, I'm not sure how much more anxiety I can take when I buy tickets to try and win. Even if I can't give all of you money, I wanted to give you THE power! When we snack on crappy foods all day, we don't feel good. And yet, we continually do this day after day, maybe less often than you once have, but you still occasionally slip and devour a whole bag of Doritos, or a box of Snowcaps. So instead of snacking on crap filled with things I can't even begin to name, I'm hoping to provide you with more healthy snacks, filled with ingredients you can pronounce, and have heard of before.

My Powerball recipe is filled with exactly that - ingredients you know and can pronounce. You know exactly what you're eating, and you feel full and satisfied after. I have the biggest sweet tooth, and I would love nothing more than to eat cookie dough ice cream day for every meal, but I know that would just leave me fat, bloated, and not feeling very good about myself - which is why I've tried to create healthier versions of sweet treats!

These powerballs are actually filled with SUPERFOODS! So they really are filled with power, little superheroes, if you ask me, that come just in the knick of time!

What are Superfoods?

Superfoods are nutrient dense foods that will not only make you feel good on the inside, but on the outside as well! They help fight disease, aid in weight loss, and make you feel more energetic!

What Superfoods are in Kristyn's Powerballs?

Walnuts & Chia Seeds, as well as unsweetened cocoa, if you decide to use that instead of the dark chocolate chips.

Walnuts contain protein and help oxidize fats, which encourages weight loss and keeps your heart healthy! They're loaded with Omega 3 fatty acids, which reduce cholesterol, and inflammation, and helps the body respond better to stress!

Chia Seeds absorb liquid and expand, living you fuller and satisfied for longer! They also contain Omega 3 fatty acids that provides nutrients to make your hair, skin, and nails healthy! Whenever my friends, who don't eat meat, ask for suggestions for protein sources I always recommend chia seeds as they are the highest plant based source of protein! They're also high in soluble fiber, magnesium, potassium, and calcium!

Unsweetened Cocoa is the last superfood in these powerballs, if added instead of the dark chocolate chips! Not only does cocoa improve your mood, but it also has antioxidants that makes your skin look great on the outside as well! I don't know about you, but it sounds like a green light to eat chocolate! Cocoa also prevents heart disease, a way too common disease in this country, lowers blood pressure, and improves insulin sensitivity. It also contains a high source of iron and magnesium as well.

Think you know all you need to know? Well.... here is the winning recipe!
