Checking in! How has your first week in 2016 been?

Skipping workouts, and eating whatever you want, in large portions?
The classes are PACKED at the kickboxing gym I work at, and it's both exciting and frustrating. While we have our members that come more daily or weekly, I've also noticed a trend when January hits and when summer is right around the corner. Some members will start to come more often, but there are others that stop showing up, and whether it's because they're moving on to a different workout or not working out at all, I don't know. I do know one thing though... many people quit when they don't notice progress immediately, they claim they don't have the time, or they decide they aren't good enough to overcome the challenges they're faced with in their workouts, and healthy lifestyle.
I know that it's not easy. It's not easy to find the time for yourself, or meal prep meals, or push yourself through a workout bright and early in the morning when all you want to do is stay warm under your covers in bed. I'VE BEEN THERE & still face these obstacles DAILY. You have to look back at your goals, and your goal map. Will you reach your goal by sleeping that extra half hour? Are you really going to be fully rested with an extra half hour of sleep? Probably not... Is it easier to stay in bed? Yes. Is it harder to jump out of bed and put energy into a workout, pack a lunch box filled with healthy foods that you went out and bought for the week, take the extra time out for yourself? ABSOLUTELY. That's what makes it WORTH IT. If you woke up and rolled out of bed, went off to your boring, passionless job, would you be LIVING? No, probably not... If you woke up just a half hour earlier, got in a good workout where you sweat and made sure you gave it your all, then had a delicious, healthy breakfast made of real, whole foods... packed your lunch for the day, including healthy snacks that you could pick on instead of turning to unhealthy foods, and went to a job that was able to put food on your table, and provide you with the money you need to pursue something that lights that fire inside of you... would you be living now? I hope you wouldn't have to think twice about that.
I know you want to lose that weight... get stronger ... become fit and toned... be able to run half a marathon or a spartan race... or even just lift 5 lbs heavier! No goal is too big or too small for you. I'm here to help you. I want you to power through this month. Research has found that, on average, it takes 66 days to form a habit, and establish a behavior that becomes automatic. Give yourself time to get to your goals. As much as we all wish we could, we won't reach them overnight. I'm here to help you, whether it's through online motivation in my accountability group, personal training, or through these blog posts.
