Spring has sprung, and hopefully you weren't hit too hard as we hit fast forward on the clock this weekend. Summer is right around the corner, so there's no better time to get those abs ready for the beach! I'm a huge believer in trying to get into shape, transform your life, and live a healthy lifestyle all year long, but we all know that you're more likely to do so when you know summer is coming. Gone are the sweaters that you like to hide in, and the sweatpants that you hang out in. I'm talking about bringing down the tank tops, short shorts, and bikinis from storage, and realizing that you need to start working out more. I've noticed that the more people I ask, "What body part do you want to focus on in your workouts?," the more people are responding with their abs and core. It's an important part of the body, no doubt, one that will be displayed on the beach or by the lake, and I usually try to incorporate core work into every workout because it's not only important for your abs, but also for balance and posture.
I'd be lying if I said that if you do ab workouts every night, that you'd see your abs. Of course exercise helps, and builds the foundation of your abs, but they're not truly going to be seen unless you fix your eating habits. More lean, clean, and green, PLUS H2O, will help those abs appear! So combine this workout below with a more lean (protein - like chicken), clean (foods that are non-GMO/organic), and green (tons of veggies and fruits), and you'll be on your way to a sexy 6-pack in no time!
Grab a dumbbell, a kettlebell, a gallon of water, a bag of flour - anything that will add resistance to this workout for an even bigger challenge! You can do this anywhere, and it should only take you a few minutes!
My plan is to do this every night before bed, or even every morning for a quick workout targeting those abs! If you try this, let me know what you think in the comments below!
