When I first started working out, I would spend way too much time than I care to admit on Instagram comparing my body to everyone else's body. I know everyone does it - compares their body to every single persons profile they click on - regardless of where they are in their healthy fitness and wellness journey. We could be on day 1, while they're two years in, and yet we still look at how much flatter their stomach is, how much bigger their butt is, or how much more toned they are compared to us.
Well... Comparison is a thief!

Sure, it could make us more determined to look just like them, but what kind of goal is that? You'll drive yourself crazy trying to look exactly like someone. You are made the way you are - comprised of genes, experiences, memories, and stories. No matter how much time and energy you put into looking like someone, you won't. At the end of the day, you'll still be you. Your thoughts and feelings are still going to be inside your head, and you won't be happy, even though your body looks exactly how you wanted it to look.
You can workout for hours in a day, and eat nothing but salads, and I can promise you that it won't last. I'm not talking about the weight loss, because maybe with all the unhealthy ways you'll keep the weight off, I'm talking about the happiness and joy you once felt when you were you, and you were able to enjoy cinnamon buns for breakfast, and a cheeseburger for dinner.
I tell my friends all the time to stay off social media if they find themselves comparing their bodies to others. Don't you think it's strange that no one aspires to have someone's personality, but rather their body instead? Something we cannot just switch out or change easily.
Comparison doesn't allow you to be YOU. It takes away all of your unique characteristics and qualities, and hides them deep within you, only to be revealed when you tell comparison to GET LOST. Take back control, sign off social media, and focus on YOU.
