Review: My First Honest Bundle

As a trainer, I tell people ALL the time to eat lean, clean, and green, to always read the ingredients, and if you cannot pronounce it or don't know what it is, put it back, and to try and eat organic whenever possible. I was so focused on what food I was putting into my body, that I wasn't at all concerned about what I was putting on my body, and what products I was using in my home. That's when I decided to change it up. After doing a little bit of research on better, cleaner personal care and cleaning companies, I purchased the Honest free trial ($5.95 shipping), which included shampoo & body wash, face & body lotion, multi-surface cleaner, healing balm, and hand soap. I tried most of the items, but not all of them, and so I cancelled the bundle before it even started. I wanted to take my time trying each of the products before getting them shipped to me each month. I immediately fell in love with the lotion, as well as the healing balm, which I use almost every day. As for the multi-surface cleaner, I went through it in one day cleaning my room! Each product is made from natural, organic ingredients that are non-toxic. The co-creator/founder, Jessica Alba, is HONEST in telling her consumers and buyers every ingredient in each and every product.

After a few months went by, I decided to go for it and start to filter out all of the harmful products I was using on my body, and replace them with Honest products. I bought my first bundle at the end of February and have been using them all month long. I added on The Honest Life book to my bundle as well. I started reading it as soon as I received it, and couldn't believe the stats and facts I was reading about the products we use daily, and how they're pumped with things that are EXTREMELY harmful for us. I have bookmarked the crap out of my book. One quote stood out among all others, though every sentence I read was just as hard to take in.

I immediately wanted to start using the Honest products I received, and filter out my old, chemical filled products. I started selling all of the lotions on my shelf that I hadn't even had a chance to use yet, and cleared space by throwing out the rest. "The average personal care product contains around 126 ingredients"... none of which require pre-market safety testing by the government (Jessica Alba, The Honest Life). In my first bundle, I received 5 non-toxic, Eco-friendly, honest products - the Honest shampoo & body wash, the organic cotton pads, the organic cotton tampons, the toothpaste, and deodorant!

The Review :

Deodorant - I absolutely fell in love with it! The Lavender Vanilla scent is incredible, and I even received a compliment from the boyfriend that I smelled good. It's a natural smelling scent too, not like those in other deodorants, perfumes, or body sprays. Sweating is good for you, so we should not be stopping it all together, especially not with products filled with aluminum and triclosan. Remember those white marks you'd get all over your clothes if you, god forbid, put a shirt on after you put deodorant on? Well, say goodbye to those days! I can spray the deodorant before or after I put my shirt on, and I don't have to worry about any stains on my shirts or bra! The only downside would be that I have to reapply when I get home from work, before I go teach, just in case! But is that really a downside to feeling fresh, and knowing you're not clogging your pores with chemicals? If you're only going to get one thing from the Honest company - it should be this deodorant!

Toothpaste - This is another one of my favorite products. I use this every morning and night, and I'm not left with a fake mint taste in my mouth afterwards. It tastes natural, and light, so much so that I think I might even be able to drink a glass of orange juice after brushing my teeth! I have not tested that out yet, so do not try that at home! There are no chemicals in this toothpaste, and that should be reason enough to buy it. It brightens your teeth, and helps reduce plaque, all while being chemical and fluoride-free (which research says we don't need a lot of anyways). Most of the toothpastes we use are filled with artificial sweeteners, preservatives, dyes and artificial flavors.

Pads/Tampons - Did you ever think before you used a tampon or pad, that we might be shoving chemicals straight into our body? I'm ashamed to admit that the only thing about tampons that scared me was the risk of toxic shock syndrome, never thinking twice that it has the word TOXIC right there! I was relieved when I saw that the Honest company makes these without any chemicals. They're both made with organic cotton, and they work well! The tampons even have a plant-based compact applicator. From regular to super plus, they have you covered!

Shampoo & Body Wash - I decided on the dreamy lavender, ultra calming one, though there are different ones that I plan to try in the future. It's natural, hypoallergenic, and tear-free. It's not necessary to use the harsh, conventional soaps and shampoos, this formula is basic, yet effective. It does not contain formaldehyde, which is in many shampoos, body washes, nail polishes, etc - which can cause cancer, allergic reactions, nose bleeds, and more, after constant long term exposure. No thank you!

If we can start taking matters into our own hands, by doing the research, and deciding to purchase products that are better for our bodies, then we can take back control of our lives, and the diseases that we allow to ruin them. Don't waste another second using products that decide our fate, decide you own and click [HONEST] to purchase your free trial or first bundle!
